Lions are the only cats that live in groups. A pride of Lions can be up to 30. The female lioness is the main hunter.

The male lion mane can grow up to  16cm long and is a sign of dominance. The older the lion, the darker the mane.

A lions roar can be heard up to 8 kilometres away.

Elephants are smart, emotional, self aware and highly social. They live in herds from 6 to 20 which are highly organzied social groups guided by an older female.

They are herbiovres, eating a diet of grass, fruit, twigs and tree bark.

Their ears can reach up to 5 feet long. When flapped they act as big fans, cooling the blood that runs close to the surface behind their ears.

Every Zebra has a unique pattern of black and white stripes.

The black and white striped pattern of their coats is a good bug repellent, keeping horseflies and other blood suckers at bay.

Zebras are social animals and live in large groups called a herd.

They are herbivores, eating grass, shrugs twigs and bark.

Black Rhinos are smaller and lighter that white rhinos and their skin can be 5 cm thick. A female rhino often have longer and thinner horns.

They are browsers that use their hooked up lip to pluck up bushes and branches for food.

Hippopotamus, the name comes from the ancient greek word, River Horse. Female hippos have only one calf every 2 years. After birth, mum and calf join a pod of Hippos for protection against crocodiles, lions & hyenas. 

They are only territorial while in the water. They resurface from the water every 3 to 5 mins to breathe

No two Giraffes have the same coat pattern. Their tongues are a blueish purple colour and between 45 to 50 cms long.

Their feet are the size of a dinner plate at a diameter of 30cms.

A baby giraffe are taller than most humans and can stand within an hour of birth.

Pink Flamingos are pink because of their diet called carotenoids. They eat a lot of shrimp, algae and crustaceans. 

Pink Flamingos eat with their head upside down.

They are water birds and live in and around lakes and rivers.

Pink flamingos will generally have stay as a pair throughout their life. 

Pink flamingos will normally only have one egg a year.

Hyena aren’t dogs and closer related to meerkats. They are large, nocturnal carnivores. 

Hyenas are highly intelligent Hyaenidae, which makes them unique to have their own species. They can problem solve and have the skills to socially cooperate within their clan.

Hyenas are competitive and are the major enemy of the lions. They will steal each other’s food/ prey.

Ostriches are the world’s largest birds, up to 9 feet tall, around 300 pounds and cannot fly but can run up to 70kms an hour for 5 km span.

Ostrich have 3 stomachs. They swallow small stones to grind their food because they lack teeth.

Ostrich have 3 sets of eyelids and have the biggest eyes of any land mammal.

Ostrich have two toes. It is believed that this give them the advantage of moving faster and more agile. 

Ostriches can live up to 40 years old & up to 70 years in captivity

Leopards are great climbers. You will see them resting on a tree branch alone. They are not social animals.

Leopards are extremely strong and can carry their prey up the tree. 

Leopards are nocturnal meaning they are active at night. They will rest during the day as they can camouflaged in the tree because of their coat.

Leopards will give birth during anytime of the year and will normally have 2 to 3 cubs. Their life span is approximately 12 to 17 years.

Cheetahs prefer open spaces and seek out raised areas for visual of prey. The Cheetah depends on their speed rather than their strength. 

Cheetahs are the fastest land animal, capable of reaching 110km in just 3 seconds.

Cheetahs long tails acts as a balancing rudder as they move with high speed directional changes chasing their prey.

 African Wild Dogs are probably the most threatened large carnivore in Africa.

Wild Dogs have the highest hunting success rate of any large predator. The kill is messy, and the prey often is quick to surrendering due to shock and a loss of blood.

The African Wild Dogs are best seen in Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe.

We understand therefore we allow you to reschedule your trip up to 40 days before your tour departure date. If you need to reschedule at the last minute. Contact us immediately. All deposits are transferable to any of our tours for future dates.
